Thomas Placzek Associate Attorney

Thomas Placzek focuses his practice on medical malpractice and long-term care litigation.  Mr. Placzek has the privilege of defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.  Mr. Placzek’s involvement begins with pre-litigation investigation and counseling, along with providing guidance, recommendations, and risk management strategies.  Mr. Placzek takes a strategic approach to each matter, believing that hard work and dedication can solve his client’s legal issues swiftly, while continuing to provide the best possible results.

Mr. Placzek graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2020.  During law school, Mr. Placzek served as the Administrative Editor of the UIC Review of Intellectual Property Law and was also a member of the UIC Moot Court Honors Program.  Mr. Placzek received awards for obtaining the highest grades in Legal Writing, while also receiving the award for Brief of the Dean Fred F. Herzog Moot Court Competition.  Prior to law school, Mr. Placzek received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with a minor in Finance, from Texas Christian University.

Prior to joining Barker, Castro, Kuban & Steinback, LLC, Mr. Placzek represented long-term care facilities at a boutique defense firm in Chicago.  During law school, Mr. Placzek honed his skills for sifting through facts and issue spotting while working at a preeminent Chicago Plaintiff’s firm.
